B3: Calcareous Grassland

In the UK Phase 1 Habitat Classification system, calcareous grassland is classified as B3. This category includes areas of open, uncultivated land that are dominated by grasses and other herbaceous plants and are found on thin, lime-rich soils. Calcareous grasslands are typically found on chalk or limestone bedrock and are often associated with areas of good drainage.
